Clever Mom

It's funny when your kids realize that there is more to you than they had originally assumed . . . The other day, I sat down to the piano (I hadn't played for a long time) and played a song that I had memorized from a long time ago. Irelynd, who is in her second year of piano lessons and confident in her piano prowess, was absolutely flabbergasted. "Mom!!! You're good!" I guess it's been longer than I thought. My kids don't even know that I can play piano.
Yesterday, Zander came up to me while I was reading. He watched me for awhile, then asked me, "Mom, why are you just sitting there, staring at your book?"
I answered, "I'm reading."
He was confused. "But you aren't saying any words."
I explained to him that I could read and think the words in my mind without saying anything.
Zander was quite impressed. "That's clever, Mom!" (Yes, those were his exact words.)
Wow. Mom can read inside her head!
I have all kinds of talents.
